I was a teacher, a traveler, a writer, a beer lover, a night owl, an independent thinker, a music critic, a job hopper, an aspiring multi-instrumentalist, a dog lover, and a tiny bit of a spendthrift.
Who am I? Well, I am still many of those things. But now I am also a wife, a mother, an expectant mother, a transplant, a layoff victim, (and as a result) a stay at home mom, and a saver.
Why should you care? That one I can't answer for you, but I am guessing you definitely have better things to do but you need a distraction. This one is a good one!
My life has changed so much in the last five years, and I expect it to change even more in the next five. I am a regular girl... a nontraditional thinker with traditional values. I am not extreme, whether in politics, parenting, or budgeting. But I do like to challenge myself to save as much as I humanly can while still having a life. Since I have been laid off, our income has been drastically slashed, as has our budget. My job now, besides being a mom and wife, is to add money to our savings by spending less. I am not perfect, and I am still learning, but I have picked up some excellent tips and tricks in recent years, and I plan to put them to work for myself and to share them here with you.
As well as money saving ideas, I will also be sharing random thoughts about parenting, spousing, dogging, cooking, interacting, crafting, and life in general. Feel free to follow along to find out what happens when an independent, atypical, punk rock bohemian goes domestic.
